Abhijit P. Deshpande, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering,Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Abhijit P. Deshpande is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras. His focus is on obtaining the understanding of polymeric systems, more specifically their aggregation and gelation behaviour. Rheology is used as a probing tool to investigate polymer blends, sulfonated polymers, crosslinked hydrogels, supramolecular / living polymers and polymeric composites in his group. His teaching interests include specialized courses in fluid mechanics, rheology and continuum mechanics; and core chemical engineering courses such as mass transfer and thermodynamics. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy University of Washington, Seattle, Master of Science University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Technology Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

His recent publications are KA Ramya, R Srinivasan, AP Deshpande, Time dependent response of thixotropic systems: Insights from small amplitude oscillatory shear, Physics of Fluids 32 (1), 013109, 2020.
